Misys to Offer ClairMail Software

The U.K. financial technology vendor Misys PLC has agreed to offer mobile banking software from ClairMail Inc. to its customers in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

ClairMail, of Novato, Calif., said Thursday that the two companies have developed prepackaged modules that are integrated with Misys' core banking systems including Misys Midas Plus, Misys Equation, Misys Bankmaster and Misys BankFusion Universal Banking. Misys said it has more than 1,200 financial customers, including the world's top 50 banks.

"It is no longer sufficient to offer mobile banking in as many different flavors as possible," Olivier Berthier, Misys' solutions director for transaction banking, said in a press release. "Banks need to partner with a solution provider that will help them maximize mobile banking adoption among their customers."

Pete Daffern, ClairMail's chief executive, said in a separate announcement that "by partnering with a global market leader, we will benefit from the access to Misys' strong customer base, as financial institutions around the world continue to realize that mobile is the strategic channel of the future."

ClairMail said its software is used by six of the top 10 U.S. banks to deliver banking information to mobile handsets by text message, mobile Web browsers and through downloadable applications.
