MoneyGram Hires Former DolEx Head

MoneyGram International said it has hired former DolEx Dollar Express Inc. head George Zelinski as its vice president for Central America, South America and the Caribbean regions.

Zelinski spent 10 years at DolEx, an Arlington, Texas, money transfer company. Zelinski has been its chief executive, its chief financial officer and its vice president of sales, MoneyGram said in its Thursday announcement. Zelinski has also spent 25 years as a banker at various companies in Mexico City.

Zelinski "brings decades of experience and a deep understanding of the money transfer business," Dan O'Malley, MoneyGram's executive vice president of the Americas, said in the release.

"George will be an incredible asset to us," O'Malley said. At MoneyGram, of Dallas, Zelinski will handle sales strategies for his regions.

MoneyGram also said it has promoted Robert Burford to regional director for Mexico. Burford was previously regional manager for Mexico.

Burford is "steeped in our business and the Mexico market," O'Malley said. "As we turn up the heat to grow this very important region, it makes good business sense to expand Robert's responsibilities and put him at the helm of this effort."
