Monitise Testing Service in Nigeria

Monitise PLC of the U.K. said Friday it is testing a service targeted at unbanked consumers in Nigeria that lets consumers transfer money with their cell phones.

The mobile payments company said it is pilot testing Monitise Mobile Money in four cities and 11 rural locations under a provisional license with the Central Bank of Nigeria, which is expected to grant full licenses in May. Users of the service can make deposits at branches of Monitise's bank partner Afribank.
