Names Executive

American Savings of Florida, Miami, has elected Charles H. Holland Jr. as chief operating officer.

He had been executive vice president for corporate strategy and support. Most recently, he had been given assigned to lead the committee overseeing the bank's merger with First Union Corp. of Charlotte, N.C.

Mr. Holland remain responsible for American Savings corporate strategy and board committee relations, as well as for overall management of corporate operations, including information systems, human resources, corporate real estate, appraisal, auditing, and compliance.
