New Amex Card for Air Canada

American Express Co.'s Amex Bank of Canada has begun issuing a cobranded corporate card with Air Canada's frequent-flier program Aeroplan.

The Canadian subsidiary of the New York card company will market Amex AeroplanPlus Corporate Cards to small and medium-size businesses, it said in a press release Monday.

Participating businesses receive cash rebates of 2% to 4% on Air Canada travel purchases and 5% annual cash back on purchases from program partners including Budget Rent A Car System Inc., Conference Plus Inc., Corporate Express Inc., Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, and Marriott Hotels of Canada. The annual fee for the card is $75.

Amex Aeroplan corporate cardholders will receive one Aeroplan mile for every $2 of purchases. For an additional annual fee of $75 they can upgrade to a program that rewards one mile for every dollar of purchases.

Last month Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce introduced a cobranded Aeroplan credit card for consumers. Its CIBC Aero Classic Visa card rewards cardholders one Aeroplan mile for every $2 they spend.
