New York Life Promotes Gallo

New York Life Insurance Co. promoted Michael Gallo to senior vice president in charge of its long-term-care operation.

He succeeded Dennis O'Brien, who retired and had led the operation since 2006.

Gallo will report to John Meyer, the chief operating officer of retirement income security, New York Life said Tuesday.

The long-term-care operation, which is based in Austin, is the nation's sixth-largest provider of such insurance for individuals.

Gallo has worked for New York Life since 1976. In 1995 he became senior vice president in charge of the individual life department. In 2005 he became chief of staff to the chief operating officer of life and annuity and U.S. insurance operations. In 2007 he became senior vice president of retirement income in the guaranteed lifetime income department.
