Norwest Venture Capital Unit Creates a Private Equity Fund

MINNEAPOLIS - Norwest Venture Capital has formed a new private equity investment fund capitalized at $200 million by Norwest Corp.

Daniel Haggerty, president of Norwest Venture Capital, said the new fund, Norwest Equity Partners 5, will seek the same kinds of equity investment opportunities Norwest Venture Capital traditionally has pursued. Such opportunities range from investments in emerging growth companies to management buyouts of more established businesses.

Headquartered in Minneapolis, Norwest Venture Capital has locations in Menlo Park, Calif., and Boston. It has been active in the investment business for more than 34 years. Capital and commitments under management now total more than $700 million, making the Norwest unit one of the larger venture capital firms in the nation.
