The prepaid card marketer Green Dot Corp. said Monday that it had joined the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council to participate in the standards-setting process.
The PCI Council maintains the PCI Data Security Standards, which describe how merchants and service providers must protect any card data they store, process or transmit. The standards council relies on the involvement of companies across the payments processing chain to increase payment data security worldwide.
Founded in 2006, the standards council has more than 600 participating organizations.
