Principal to Cover Health Account Fees

Principal Financial Group said it will pay certain fees on health savings accounts and health reimbursement arrangements for the second year in a row.

The Des Moines company said Monday that it will pay account set-up fees for health savings accounts sold with a qualified high-deductible health plan with an effective date of Nov. 1 through Jan. 31.

Monthly administration fees on health reimbursement arrangements will also be paid for one policy year for all new insurance policies sold with the same effective dates, Principal said. If the account is sold with an extended rate guarantee, the monthly fee waiver can be extended to a maximum of 15 months.

Principal had $282.1 billion of assets under management as of Sept. 30.
