Profit Up 14% at Check Printer Deluxe

Deluxe Corp. said Thursday that its fourth-quarter net income rose 14% from a year earlier, to $34.8 million.

Its revenue rose 3% to $351.5 million. The company, known primarily for printing checks, said the three segments of its business had a strong performance.

Deluxe's direct checks revenue rose 50.5% year over year, to $59.3 million.

Financial services revenue fell 7.3%, to $88 million.

Small-business services revenue fell 0.7%, to $204.2 million.

"We are pleased to finish the year by delivering another solid quarter," Lee Schram, the chief executive officer at the St. Paul, Minn., company, said in a press release.
