RBS Citizens Financial Group (RBS) is adding person-to-person payments for its online banking users and expedited automated clearing house transfers for its mobile banking users.
Citizens is using Fiserv's (FISV) CashEdge products, such as Popmoney, for these services, says Sreedhar Vegesna, the bank's head of Internet and mobile banking. These new services went live last month.
"We looked at our customers' needs and wants … and we felt that giving our customers convenience, and providing greater access to do payments online and in the mobile device, was an important approach," Vegesna says in an interview.
The bank offers ACH transfers for free if the money moves to another Citizens account. It charges $10 to move money to an account at a different bank.
Using Popmoney, Citizens also offers transfers to outside accounts for a fee. It costs $1 to transfer money within three business days and $10 to transfer money within one business day.
