Roundup: Taiwanese Bank Buys One in Los Angeles

Bank Sinopac of Taipei, Taiwan, said it has completed its $94 million acquisition of Los Angeles-based Far East National Bank.

Paul Lo, president and chief executive officer of Bank Sinopac, became chairman of Far East National Bank, whose name will not change.

Mr. Lo said Far East National would do more international banking and trade finance throughout California and the Pacific Rim.

The deal brought Bank Sinopac's assets to $5.5 billion. Bank Sinopac created a holding company, Sinopac Bancorp, to own Far East National.
