Ryan Out, Patsley In as MoneyGram CEO

MoneyGram International Inc. announced Tuesday that Anthony P. Ryan has resigned as its chief executive and as a director.

The Minneapolis money transfer company said Pamela H. Patsley, its executive chairman since January, has taken the additional post of chief executive.

"Pam has proven to be a terrific addition and we believe that she is the ideal leader to build MoneyGram into a world-class competitor," Seth Lawry, a MoneyGram director and the chairman of its human resources and nominating committee, said in a press release.

Before joining MoneyGram, Patsley, 52, spent seven years at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.'s First Data Corp., most recently as the president of First Data International, where she was responsible for all the company's business outside the United States.

Previously she was the CEO of Paymentech Inc., which she took public in 1996 and sold to First Data for $1 billion in 1999.

Ryan joined MoneyGram in 1995 and had overseen its day-to-day operations since June 2008.
