Metavante Technologies Inc. will be dropped from the S&P MidCap 400 index after the close of trading Thursday, when its acquisition by Fidelity National Information Services Inc. is expected to be completed.

Standard & Poor's, which administers the index, said last week that Metavante will be replaced by Solera Holdings Inc., a San Diego provider of software used to process auto insurance claims.

Fidelity National, of Jacksonville, Fla., is part of the S&P 500 index.
