CHEYENNE, Wyo.--SafeCard Services Inc., which provides registry of account numbers and other enchancements for credit card holders, has named Paul G. Kahn chairman of the board and chief executive.
Mr. Kahn, 49, is best known for launching American Telephone and Telegraph Co.'s huge credit card operation. He said Tuesday he plans to develop new services and products at SafeCard, including consultation in the development of cobranded credit cards.
A former executive at Well's Fargo & Co., Mellon Bank Corp., and First Chicago Corp., Mr. Kahn joined AT&T Universal Card Services Inc. in 1989. He resigned earlier this year, saying AT&T had resisted his proposals to diversify into other financial services.
