Sandy Spring Bancorp (SASR) in Olney, Md., has named Ronda McDowell as chief credit officer of its bank.
The $4.1 billion-asset company said Thursday that McDowell previously served as the loan administration and retail senior credit officer at Sandy Spring Bank. McDowell succeeded Jeffrey Welch, resigned at the end of August, according to a regulatory filing. The company agreed to keep paying Welch's salary and health benefits through August 2014.
A company spokesman did not immediately return a call seeking comment on the reasons for Welch's departure.
Sandy Spring has 49 branches in Maryland and Virginia.
