Calling all Volunteers!
It's that time of year again. The application deadline for American Banker's Young Women's Leadership Award is rapidly approaching and we are soliciting your assistance in choosing this year's winners.
American Banker, in conjunction with the 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking, and in partnership with the High School for Leadership and Public Service in Manhattan, awards two young women with demonstrated outstanding leadership ability and potential scholarships of $5000 each to be used toward their college expenses. The young women must be graduating seniors accepted into a four-year college and the first in their family to pursue higher education. Through involvement in their community and/or school while maintaining academic success, these young women have shown that they not only have the tools to advance, but also that they have the ambition and drive to do so.
Last year's winners, Lauren Doyle and Nickeisha Wynter, are currently freshmen at Syracuse University and Buffalo State University.
Funding college today is a difficult and touchy subject. As part of our commitment to the community and to furthering successful women in the careers of their choice, we'd like to make the burden of a secondary education a little lighter. Scholarship applications are due February 1st, and we'll begin deliberations within the following few weeks after that.
