Short Takes: Pa. Fund Firm Hires Top Kemper Manager

Delaware Distributors LP, Philadelphia, has hired a top Kemper Financial Services' account manager to be national sales director.

Terry Cunningham, who was also named senior vice president, will market Delaware Distributors' mutual funds to banks and other financial institutions starting Monday. He had joined Kemper in 1988 and been national account manager since 1993.

"Banks and other financial institutions represent a significant growth opportunity for Delaware, and we are committed to increasing our depth and breadth in this area," wrote Bruce Barton, president and chief executive officer, in a memo to employees. "Terry's hiring represents a major step toward meeting that commitment."

Mr. Cunningham also worked in Kemper's banking division from 1991 to 1993 as a regional manager, with responsibility for metropolitan New York, Long Island, and Connecticut. During that time, the division's sales rose from last among Kemper's 45 territories to 10th.

In 1991 and 1992, he won the company's chairman cup for outstanding sales achievement in Kemper's banking division.

Mr. Cunningham, a 1981 graduate of University of Richmond, previously held posts at Drexel Burnham Management Co., John Nuveen & Co., and Federated Investors. He lives in Westport, Conn.
