Short Takes: Trade Group President Takes a Nonbank Job

The former president of Amsouth Bancorp's brokerage arm and the new president of the Bank Securities Association has joined a Stamford, Conn., insurance agency.

Lincoln B. Yersin, 36, was elected president of the trade group before announcing his resignation from Amsouth Investment Services. Though Sage Insurance Group Inc. is not affiliated with a bank, Mr. Yersin said he plans to remain president of the trade group, unless its board votes otherwise.

J. Heywood E. Sloane, executive director of the securities group, said he thinks Mr. Yersin will remain president. About 200 banks, brokerages, and mutual fund companies are members.

Mr. Yersin joined Sage on May 3 as a senior vice president for sales. He is responsible for distribution of Sage's insurance and investment products through banks, brokerages, and financial planners.

Mr. Yersin left Birmingham, Ala.-based Amsouth on April 30.
