Sound Financial in Seattle Adds Former Fannie Exec to Board

Sound Financial Bancorp in Seattle has selected a former Fannie Mae executive to join its board.

Kathleen Cook will also join the board of the $495 million-asset company's bank.

"The bank sought a person with a specific skill set not currently found on the board … and also someone from our Olympic Peninsula market," Laurie Stewart, Sound's president and chief executive, said in a press release Monday. "We look forward to the knowledge Cook brings to our boards and we value her experience."

Cook is a retired vice president for regulatory compliance at Fannie Mae, where she worked from 1992 and 1998. She also worked as attorney examiner and staff counsel to the Superintendent of Banks in Ohio and as senior attorney and vice president of regulatory compliance for Banc One.
