BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- SouthTrust Corp. increased its public offering of common stock Friday to 2.65 million shares from the two million originally filed.
The $63.6 million offering was priced at $24 a share by underwriters led by Merrill Lynch & Co., J.C. Bradford & Co., and Sterne, Agee & Leach Inc.
The banking company, which has $11.3 billion in assets, also granted underwriters an option to purchase up to an additional 397,500 shares to cover over-allotments.
Proceeds to the company will be used for general corporate purposes.
