Synovus Financial (SNV) of Columbus, Ga., has hired Susan Koski as its chief information security officer.

Koski will provide long-range planning and oversight around the company's enterprise-wide information security, privacy standards and business continuity planning, Synovus said Tuesday.

Prior to joining Synovus, Koski was the managing director for global information technology risk, information security and vendor assessments at Bank of New York Mellon (BK) in Pittsburgh. She recently helped write a set of guidelines for secure software development called the BITS Software Assurance Framework as a member of BITS, the Financial Services Roundtable's digital arm.

Koski was previously the manager of global network and perimeter defense at BNY Mellon and was a software validation testing engineer at Westinghouse Electric Co.
