He has been with the trade group for 16 years, most recently as its director of government relations.

Last week he succeeded Peter Gwaltney, who stepped down from the post in December to become the CEO and vice chairman of the Senior Housing Crime Prevention Foundation Inc..

Mr. Taylor, 53, said he intends to continue lobbying efforts at the state level. He also plans to expand the trade group's government relations team by adding a member.

"We are going to beef up our government relations arm of the office" and focus on "education and training and products and services," he said.
