Digital Insight LLC, a provider of PC home banking technology to credit unions, has chosen Travelers Express Co. as its bill payment processor.
About 21 credit unions offer Internet-based home banking using Digital Insight, which is based in Newbury Park, Calif. Another 44 credit unions use Digital Insight for other services related to the World Wide Web.
Digital Insight, which was founded last year, expects to offer Web-based bill payment services to its customers by September.
Travelers Express, based in Minneapolis, is best known as a processor of share drafts, official checks, and money orders for about 30% of the nation's credit unions. It has recently begun processing electronic transactions under the PayMate brand name.
PayMate provides for basic home banking and bill payment transactions via phone or PC.
"We are seeing strong growth in our bill payment and home banking services," said Robert H. Bohannon, president and chief executive of Travelers Express. "In less than two years, we've acquired three companies in these fields, and we're building a strong electronic-transaction component in our business portfolio."
