Transaction Systems Architects Inc. said it has completed the acquisition of Media Integration, a privately held smart card technology company in Gouda, the Netherlands.
Media Integration, known as Mint, sells multifunction chip card software and systems integration services. Its clients include the Proton and Chipper systems.
Transaction Systems, the parent of Applied Communications Inc. and other companies in various aspects of transaction processing and networking, exchanged 740,000 of its class A common shares, valuing Mint at $29.3 million when the deal closed Nov. 27.
Mark R. Vipond, senior vice president of Transaction Systems, said Mint has "proven products and a solid track record with the major smart card issuers in the Netherlands and Australia and with innovators in other countries around the world."
In a previous move into the smart card market, Transaction Systems bought Smart Card Integrations Ltd. of London on Sept. 1.
