Tech Bytes: Web Site Designer, Cataloguer Team Up

Myers Internet Services, which designs and hosts Web sites primarily for mortgage providers, has entered into a strategic alliance with the Internet catalogue company iCat Corp.

The alliance gives Myers customers access to iCat's Electronic Commerce Suite 3.0, enabling them to distribute interactive product and service catalogues over the Internet and process secure electronic transactions with buyers.

"A mortgage insurance company might use the iCat solution to let mortgage companies and banks order rate cards, manuals, and other information," said Warren H. Myer, chief executive officer of Myers Internet.

Mr. Myer said the system "can also be used in intranet settings," allowing a company to distribute product and price updates and other documentation to branches offices at low cost.

Seattle-based iCat, formed in 1993, has business relationships with such leaders in interactive technology as Open Market Inc., Checkfree Corp., First Virtual Holdings Inc., Electronic Data Systems Corp., and Cybercash Inc.

Myers' offerings include the Mpro-Net clearing house for mortgage information and the Imperfect Credit Mortgage Directory for marketing B, C, and D credits.
