Tompkins of New York to Buy Sleepy Hollow

Tompkins Financial Corp. of Ithaca, N.Y., said Tuesday that it is buying Sleepy Hollow Bancorp Inc. for $30.2 million.

The acquisition would be Tompkins' first of a banking company since 1999.

Tompkins is the $2.3 billion-asset holding company for Tompkins Trust Co., Bank of Castile, and Mahopac National Bank.

Sleepy Hollow Bancorp, the $245 million-asset parent of Sleepy Hollow Bank, would be merged into Mahopac National, which would have $750 million of assets and 14 branches in Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess counties.
