Tower Discloses Big Board Shakeup

Tower Bancorp Inc. in Harrisburg, Pa., announced last week that nine directors resigned as part of a plan to streamline its board.

Departing directors included John Featherman 3rd, the former chairman, president and chief executive at First Chester County Corp., which Tower bought last month.

The $2.2 billion-asset company, which capped its board at 12 directors, gave no reason for the changes in a Thursday filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Tower also announced several management changes. Jeffrey Renninger, its chief operating officer, has also become its president, it said. Renninger succeeded Andrew Samuel, who remains the company's chairman and chief executive.

Janak Amin was named the president and CEO of the Graystone Tower Bank unit. Amin had been the president and CEO of Graystone Bank, a division of Graystone Tower Bank.

Tower also said that Mark Merrill, its chief financial officer, had taken a medical leave of absence that began Jan. 25. The bank's director of finance, John Finley, was appointed acting CFO.
