“Helping issuers and investors better manage their ESG efforts with a greater array of sustainable finance solutions is important to clients and aligns with our values and ESG objectives,” Stephen Philipson, the company's head of fixed income and capital markets, said Wednesday in a press release.

Before joining U.S. Bancorp, Martin was founder and CEO of Global Oak Capital Markets, a Charleston, S.C., investment bank focused on small and midsize companies. Before he founded Global Oak, he worked in a number of senior leadership and management posts in trading and banking with Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch in Moscow and London. Martin began his career at UBS Investment Bank in New York.

Martin will also be involved in diversity, equity and inclusion efforts within his group, U.S. Bancorp said.
