The international energy company National Grid PLC has begun offering electronic bills to its U.S. customers through Fiserv Inc.'s e-Bill Distribution system.
Customers of banks that support Fiserv's system can now receive electricity and natural gas bills through their banks' websites. National Grid, of London, has about 3.3 million electricity customers and 3.4 million natural gas customers in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Rhode Island.
"Our customers are increasingly relying on electronic billing and payment because it is fast, convenient and helps eliminate the clutter of paper-based statements," Jeff Martin, National Grid's director of billing and systems, said in a press release Monday. "Delivering bills to financial institution sites is an important complement to our existing billing capabilities."
Jardon Bouska, Fiserv's president of biller solutions, said in the release that "National Grid shares our vision to deliver bills to consumers at their preferred payment point."
