Union State Bank in Kansas Appoints New CEO

Union State Bank in Arkansas City, Kan., has had a member of the Docking family at its helm for more than 50 years. That is about to change.

The $247 million-asset bank said in a recent press release that Eric Kurtz will succeed Bill Docking as chief executive. Docking, who will remain at the bank as its chairman, had been CEO for the past 31 years. His father, former Kansas Gov. Robert Docking, led the bank from 1957 to 1983. The bank's holding company, Docking Bancshares, has controlled the bank since 1956.

"The time has come for me to devote more time to holding company responsibilities," Docking said in the release. "Moving forward, [Kurtz] is someone I trust will do an excellent job serving the customers and will represent the bank well as our new CEO."

Kurtz joined Union State as chief lending officer in 2009. He has been corporate president since January 2011.

Union State Bank was founded in 1908 and has seven branches in Kansas.
