In a Sept. 13 letter to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, U.S. Bank said the layoffs at the U.S. Bank Center office tower would take effect Nov. 16. Four of the affected employees are union members.

All the jobs being axed are in the back office, says U.S. Bank spokesman Thomas Joyce. The bank is helping the employees to find other positions at the company, he says. U.S. Bank has about 5,000 employees in Wisconsin, roughly 3,400 of them in Milwaukee.

In January, U.S. Bank said it would cut 64 positions in fraud and dispute management in Milwaukee, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
