The terminal maker VeriFone Systems Inc. said Monday that the liquor store chain Beverages and more! has installed its VeriShield Protect end-to-end encryption product.

BevMo!, which has 107 stores in the western U.S., finished the deployment of VeriShield along with VeriFone's MX 860 card acceptance systems at every checkout lane in 2010, according to VeriFone, of San Jose, Calif.
VeriShield, which encrypts cardholder data the instant it is received, will help the retailer reduce its scope of PCI compliance, VeriFone said. The deployment allowed BevMo! to avoid doing an expensive point of sale software upgrade, Dan Carter, its chief financial officer, said in a press release.
