VeriFone Systems Inc. said Monday that Arcos Dorados, a company that manages McDonald's restaurants in Latin America, would use its payment software.
The San Jose, Calif., company said it will provide its Payware Merchant software to process transactions at the restaurant manager's terminals. The technology will initially be used at 220 McDonald's in Argentina and Uruguay.
"Our ability to provide a regional hosted services package was the key element" in this deal, said Gustavo Jimenez, a vice president and general manager at VeriFone Latin America, in a press release.
Arcos Dorados operates about 1,850 McDonald's restaurants in South America. The McDonald's brand is owned by McDonald's Corp. of Oak Brook, Ill.
