Viklund named CEO of Long Island Savings.

William E. Viklund, president of $5.5 billion-asset Long Island Savings Bank, Melville, N.Y., has been elected to the additional post of chief executive officer. He was chief operating officer.

He succeeds James J. Conway Jr., who has retired as chairman of the board and as chief executive.

Assuming the board's chairmanship is Donald D. Wenk, chairman and chief executive of American CAsting and Manufacturing, Plainview, N.Y. Mr. Wenk has been a member of the bank's board since 1974.

Mr. Viklund has been president of Long Island Savings since 1982 and a member of the board since 1983. Before his association with the thrift, he was a senior vice president at the Bankers Trust Co., where he was director of real estate lending.
