Wachovia Exec Fills CEO Slot At a Fla. Unit Of SouthTrust

SouthTrust Bank, Jacksonville, Fla., hired Thomas G. Becker to be president and chief executive officer of its northeast Florida market, overseeing Duval, Baker, Clay, Nassau, and St. Johns counties.

He succeeded Corey Coughlin, the bank's chairman, president, and CEO, who had left in March to be president and CEO of First Bancshares and its subsidiary First National Bank of Central Florida in Longwood.

Mr. Becker was a senior vice president and county executive at Wachovia Bank in Gainesville, Ga., responsible for branches in Hall and Lumpkin counties.

SouthTrust Bank is a subsidiary of Birmingham, Ala.-based SouthTrust Corp.
