Wells Fargo Executive Killed in Amtrak Crash

Abid Gilani, a Wells Fargo senior vice president, was one of the victims in the derailment of an Amtrak train outside of Philadelphia on Tuesday.

Gilani, a "valued member" of the bank's commercial real estate division, died in the accident, a Wells Fargo spokesman said Wednesday. At least seven passengers were killed in the crash of the train traveling from Washington to New York, and another approximately 200 were injured, according to news accounts as of late Wednesday.

"Our hearts go out to all those impacted by this tragedy," the Wells spokesman said.

Gilani had been with Wells' hospitality finance group since May 2014, according to his LinkedIn profile. Before that he worked at Marriott International as senior vice president of mortgage banking and chief financial officer of the company's European division. He had previously held positions with Scotiabank and RBC Dominion Securities.
