Wright Express to issue cards for oil firm.

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine -- Cenex, a leading independent oil producer and marketer, said it is converting to a Wright Express fuel management system.

Cenex has contracted with Wright Express to issue private-label fleet cards on its behalf. Cenex also will take the Wright Express Universal Fleet Card, which can used by commercial fleets at more than 70,000 locations.

The deal "substantially strengthens our position in rural areas of the Midwest, north central, and western regions," said Michael Dubyak, Wright Express senior vice president and general manager for merchant marketing.

Cenex serves 1,600 retail service locations in 16 states. It also has convenience stores, truck stops, a private truck fleet, and Fast Lube stations. "We have been heavily involved in commercial fueling programs for some time," said Don Olson, Cenex's manager of retail development. "We decided that we needed to find a way to pull everything together and integrate it into a single, comprehensive fuel card program."
