Zions Bank Makes $50,000 Donation to Cancer Research in Honor of Women in Banking

Zions First National Bank has made a $50,000 donation to the Huntsman Cancer Institute in honor of American Banker's Most Powerful Women in Banking. The funds have been earmarked for breast cancer research.

Zions Bank CEO Scott Anderson announced the gift at last week's gala celebration of the 10th annual Most Powerful Women list, drawing heavy applause from the 600-plus guests and surprising even the Zions Bank women who were seated with Anderson at the event. (Salt Lake City-based Zions, which took home a Top Teams award that evening, had several tables at the Oct. 16 black-tie dinner.)

Jon Huntsman Sr., founder and chairman of Utah's Huntsman Cancer Institute, offered his appreciation in this statement: "The Huntsman Cancer Institute proudly and humbly accepts this donation in honor of The Most Powerful Women in Banking and all women bankers in this country.

The funds will be used 100 percent by our [breast cancer] research teams to help find a cure for this terrible disease which impacts hundreds of thousands of women throughout the U.S. and millions of women throughout the world. All I can say is thank you, and thank you for all you do in banking and in our communities."
