Poker-Site Operator Confesses to Bank-Fraud Charge

An online poker site operator pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud.

Brent Beckley, who co-owned Absolute Poker, said he disguised the purpose of credit-card payments he received from 2006 to April 2011 from customers of the site, Reuters reported Tuesday. This deception allowed Beckley to operate the poker site in spite of the U.S. law against online gambling.

Beckley is likely to serve a sentence of 12 to 18 months under the terms of a plea bargain, the article said.
