Mastercard shuts Sao Paulo office, New York site on worker infection

Mastercard Inc. closed its office in Sao Paulo and an annex location near its headquarters in New York after an employee contracted coronavirus.

The Brazil-based employee traveled to the annex office in Purchase, New York, earlier this week, the company said in a statement Friday. The two locations are undergoing a “thorough sanitization process,” it said.

“While it is believed that there is a low risk of this being transmitted to most of our employees who were not in close contact with this individual, we have notified our team members and they are taking the necessary actions to monitor their own health,” Mastercard said.
