Payment technology provider Adyen is establishing Bitcoin as a payment option for consumers playing online games from U.K.-based Jagex.
Jagex, creator of the adventure game RuneScape, is the first merchant to accept Bitcoin payments through Adyen's platform. Amsterdam-based Adyen integrates with the Atlanta-based Bitcoin processor
Adyen is in a good position to serve the growing number of merchants showing interest in Bitcoin payments, Roelant Prins, chief commercial officer at Adyen, stated in the release. Adyen has more than 250 payment methods and 187 transaction currencies it can offer to merchants, Prins added.
Adyen processes payments across online, mobile and physical point of sale terminals for more than 3,500 businesses and for brands such as Facebook, Aribnb, Spotify, Groupon and Booking.com, the company said.
