Point of sale software developer Amber Systems Technologies has integrated EMV-chip card processing into its Vigore POS restaurant management system.
The new technology was developed by Moneris Solutions, a major North American payment processor. The integration will allow users of Pleasanton, Calif.-based Amber Systems' Vigore POS system to accept EMV-enabled cards ahead of the October 2015 liability shift deadline. After that date, most companies unable to handle EMV payments will be held liable for fraud losses.
"EMV chip cards are coming," said Suzanne Chen, Amber Systems' chief financial officer, in an August 21 news release. "They are going to impact every retailer and restaurantsmall or large, [quick service], full-service or fine-diningso adding EMV card processing to Vigore was a top priority for us. Moneris is the North American leader in EMV technology, so choosing to collaborate with them on an integrated EMV processing solution was an easy decision."
