PayPal Inc. says American Airlines Inc. now accepts its service for ticket purchases online, CardLine sister publication American Banker reports. The San Jose, Calif.-based unit of eBay Inc. has been moving since last year to put its payment system on the Web sites of numerous airlines. JetBlue Airways Corp. of New York, Southwest Airlines Co. of Dallas and Northwest Airlines Inc. of Eagan, Minn., already accepted it online by before it announced the American Airlines deal Monday. PayPal also works with Universal Air Travel Plan Inc., the Washington, D.C.-based corporate payment card provider that several airlines own. Last month, PayPal said it would buy Bill Me Later Inc., a rival payments provider that has deals with air carriers such as Continental Airlines Inc. of Houston. American Airlines is a unit of AMR Corp. of Fort Worth, Texas.
