AmEx Hires Former Skype CEO Silverman To Oversee Consumer Cards

 American Express Co. has appointed online marketing veteran Josh Silverman president of its U.S.  consumer services business, overseeing consumer cards and travel services, the company announced June 9.

Silverman, who most recently was “executive in residence” at venture capital firm Greylock Ventures, previously served as CEO of Skype from 2008 to 2010. Before that he was a senior executive at eBay Inc., where he began in 2003 and rose to CEO of eBay’s Shopping.com site. Silverman also once was CEO of Evite LLC, which he co-founded.

Silverman replaces Jud Linville, who was named chief executive officer of Citigroup Inc.’s Citi Cards unit in September.
