American Express is working with Facebook to explore different methods of customer engagement through the social media network’s Messenger app.
The payments giant plans to pilot a bot for Messenger in the coming months that would be available to U.S. consumer and OPEN cardholders who choose to participate. The bot would allow customers to receive real-time transaction notifications and marketing information about card benefits and services related to those purchases.
“We know our card members appreciate the convenience of receiving information from Amex on digital platforms where they’re already spending time,” Dave Wolf, vice president, digital partnerships and development, said in a press release. “The scale and flexibility of the Messenger platform makes it a powerful channel for us to explore new ways to connect with card members.”
