Amex Testing Its Low-Fee Prepaid Card In Some Wal-Mart Stores

American Express Co. reportedly is testing the sale of prepaid cards in some Wal-Mart stores.

The lender is marketing the reloadable cards, which can be used wherever Amex is accepted, under the name "bluebird" in about 180 of the discount retailer's stores on the West Coast, Dow Jones reported March 5.

Amex launched its prepaid card, which comes with relatively few fees, last summer (see story).
