Apple Card suffers an outage

Apple Card shut down Wednesday morning with most services unavailable, according to a status update on Apple's website.

Users are unable to make payments, view or manage card details, and are also unable to view recent transactions.

Apple Card is a joint offering of Apple and Goldman Sachs, and is a major part of the embedded finance strategy at both companies. The large enrolled base for Apple Pay is used to build an audience for financial services and other Apple products, such as streaming content. Apple recently extended access to the Apple Card to multiple members of the same family.

The card is part of a larger trend toward financial super apps, or initiatives that utilize partnerships between banks and third parties to build a larger menu of digital services.
