Customers will soon make purchases in Apple’s retail stores with the company’s new limited mobile wallet, Passbook, according to an Apple news site.
Apple will be issuing an updated version of EasyPay, its mobile point-of-sale system software to employees,
The update, due this month, would allow purchases through Apple gift cards loaded into the Passbook app, 9to5mac.com reports.
Apple’s Passbook is not by itself a payments app, though it can function as a wallet for other apps that support payments.
Passbook also allows apps to display bar codes for non-payment uses such as boarding passes and baseball-game tickets.
