Apriva is integrating its payments gateway with software that performs backend functions that include inventory management, reporting, accounting and email marketing.
A firm called POS on Cloud provides the software for those tasks and automatically updates point of sale systems connected with Apriva as new types of payment emerge, Apriva announced this week.
Retailers and restaurateurs benefit from the integration because the updates keep their point of sale systems ready to handle the latest changes in payments, such as mobile acceptance and EMV, said Justin Passalaqua, Apriva director of sales and integration services, in a phone interview.
The integration also benefits ISOs and agents by providing them with value-added services they can use to start conversations with prospects, Passalaqua told ISO&Agent Weekly.
He also noted that the services help retain established customers because they become involved with the ISO for more than just transaction services.
POS on Cloud installs the softwareremotely for smaller merchants or during an onsite visit for larger customersfreeing ISOs of setup responsibilities, he said.
Our relationship with Apriva allows us to deliver a robust, cloud-based solution that meets merchant needs for security, scalability, and the flexibility to accept the payment methods that make sense for their business, said Dr. Sunny Dronawat, CEO of POS on Cloud. We look forward to working closely with Apriva to meet merchant and reseller needs, as well as to expanding the relationship beyond the restaurant and retail verticals in the future.
Operating in the cloud and independent of hardware, POS on Cloud eases concerns about data storage or loss if a system malfunctions, the vendors said.
The software uses end-to-end encryption and tokenization, ensuring customer credit and debit card information remains well-protected, according to Apriva and POS on Cloud.
Cloud technologies are pervasive and many restaurants and retailers already have or are considering a cloud POS solution because of the efficiency and business value they offer, said Stacey Finley Tappin, senior vice president for North America sales and marketing communications at Apriva. Our relationship with POS on Cloud will enable us to provide our channel with a state-of-the-art, cloud-based POS solution that fully integrates with our Gateway. This gives them the ability to create new revenue streams for their business by introducing fully integrated hardware, software and gateway services.
Aprivas Integration Services Program enables independent software vendors, and mobile and embedded developers to incorporate credit, debit, EBT, loyalty and closed-loop payment processing into their programming, according to the companies.
Once integrated, the applications and POS systems communicate with the Apriva gateway over wired or wireless networks, providing access to the more than 35 North American payment processors that work with Apriva.
The vendor also said it also has relationships with all of the leading wireless carriers.
